I’ve always wanted to go on a weekend trip for the fall because I love everything about fall.
However I should have realized so does every other human.
When trying to find a place to go for a long weekend, I didn’t realize just how hard it would be to find a place to go!
I looked to everywhere from Hocking Hills to the Berlin Treehouses and even the Adirondacks (which was my first choice), but we only had Thursday night to Sunday, so options were limited.
Literally. Every single cabin/house/area was rented. If I waited one day – it went. So I actually have no idea how we settled on Traverse City but that’s it.
I wanted a quiet weekend and a hot tub. Those were my only requests.
Itinerary
Thursday: We drove after work up to our AirBnB which is a 6 hour drive. We got there really late and all I’ll say is this particular area of Michigan had NO street lights at all and I felt like we were driving on all country roads.
I also lost cell service until we could connect with the WiFi at the cabin so I REALLY thankful I had plugged in my phone our route before we lost service because I really don’t know what we would have done!
Friday: We drove up to Mission Point Lighthouse and then over to Sleeping Bear Dunes.
Saturday: We drove to Torch Lake and then walked around Traverse City
Sunday: We packed up and drove home!
Tips
1.) Load your maps before leaving places!
2.) We packed our own food and only bought a few items at a local store which was great because there wasn’t a big local store around.
