Sedona

Awww Sedonaaaaaa.

If you read the travel tips, you know we flew into Phoenix first, if not, now you do.

We rented our car Sunday morning and drove up to Sedona. It’s a 2 hour drive which is easy peasy. We really only had one day in Sedona so we drove and hiked to see Cathedral Rock. TRAVEL TIP when you leave Sedona (the immediate town) like 5 miles you will have NO SERVICE. So cache the map in your phone so you know where to go!

We drove down Verde Valley School Rd. and there’s a point you basically have to park at the end and the trail for Baldwin Trail starts across the parking lot.

We hiked around there and started making our way up to Cathedral Rock but it was starting to get dark (we went in November, not a ton of day light) so we didn’t make it all the way there but that was okay!

We brought our Drone with us and while you couldn’t fly it in the State Park, we made sure we were outside (with an app) and flew it around to get some fun high pictures. We did email Sedona Airport in advance so they knew we were planning to fly.

Sunset

Ricky knew that the place to go at Sunset was Sedona Airport (and apparently everyone else knew too). We got there super early before sunset because you now have to pay to park there and the parking lot fills up fast.

There are some trails around there and we walked a bit and then found a spot to sit and watch the sunset. IT WAS COLD. BRING A BLANKET. Or gloves. Or just anything to stay warm.

We waited until after even because I love sunsets and as we got up to go, I asked a guy who had been sitting near us to take our picture and then he asked me to do the same for him and his girlfriend. MID PICTURE HE GET’S DOWN ON ONE KNEE AND PROPOSES (I could clarify he was on crutches so it was like one crutch). So that was fun!

Coconino Forest and Slide Rock State Park

We stayed at THEE CHEAPEST place in town (booked via tripadvisor I’m pretty sure that day) and then the next morning woke up, drove a little more north to the Coconino National Forest and Slide Rock State Park. Flew our drone there and enjoyed the scenery. Crazy how 30 minutes north of Sedona, completely different. Trees and greenery. Loved it.

And that was our trip! I wish we had time to do more, but we literally had 1 day and sometimes that’s all you get so you have to make the most of it!
