Mission Point Lighthouse

Right in the middle of the Traverse City Bays is a long peninsula and at the end is an old lighthouse – Mission Point Lighthouse. We had really nice cool weather and wanted to go for a drive to see the lake and fly our drone.

In the packet of info our AirBnB left – there was a lighthouse that we decided to visit. There is one road down the center and you pass vineyards and hops growing and can see the lake on either side.

When we got to our destination – we were amazed not only at the fine Caribbean style sand – but water too! I will never get over how beautiful Lake Michigan is.

I’m pretty sure you had to pay to go “inside” the lighthouse and we didn’t care that much – so we walked the sand – found benches covered in sand and compared Lake Michigan to Erie about 1,000 times (no comparison on beauty).

Interesting Fact:  At this spot you were actually standing on the 45 parallel – or halfway between the North Pole and the Equator – which was cool!

I’m paranoid when flying our drone and getting in trouble – so we actually drove just a bit south and flew from down there instead.
