LAKE POWELL – BOAT RENTAL DAY

LAKE POWELL – BOAT RENTAL DAY

On one of our last days in the Southwest we wanted to do something that was relaxing and that would allow us to enjoy the area.  Earlier in the week we looked around on where we could rent a boat since that’s really my dad’s enjoyment in life.  We knew we wanted to go back to Lake Powell because it was unique so he called around and we ended up renting from Antelope Point Marina.

This marina is an experience! You basically pull up, unload into gators and then get carted down to your boat. We kept wondering why people were unloading massive amounts of bedding and food and luggage – then we found out Lake Powell is a massive lake for house boats.  Some of the house boats in the marina were millions and millions of dollars.  They had jet skis, slides, extra boats, etc… on them.

We had a little trouble at the marina once we got down to the rental because they said all the boats were gone and they needed one at the dock incase of an emergency.  My dad was not please and argued that we had come all the way from Ohio & drove over an hour to get there from our home base.  They weren’t please but did give us the last boat at the dock.

WHATEVER – We were just happy we were on our way.

As I talked about in the SUP post on Lake Powell, this lake is just so neat.  We’re used to trees and sandy beaches and here you have massive crevices and sandstone that line the waterways.

We took a nice drive to some random inlet, parked it and enjoyed each other’s company and lunch.  After about 2 hours we headed back to the marina with no issues, returned the boat and went back home.

I would suggest renting a boat or if you have a weekend, get a houseboat! I would have loved to have done that, so maybe next time or another lake!
