Horseshoe Bend

HORSESHOE BEND – ARIZONA

Horseshoe Bend, while an awesome feat of God, is most definitely a tourist trap.  We knew this going into it so just be forewarned. You enter the park right off of Highway 89 and pay $10 a vehicle. The sign displays the National Park logo, yet they do not accept the Park Pass. *rolls eyes* After you park and exit your vehicle, you’ll walk about ½ mile to the look out points.

It was very crowded here and there was tour bus after tour bus just spilling out foreign people who were NOT in hiking gear.  You do not necessarily need hiking boots, but it is all exposed and hot. Bring water and hats and sunglasses.

The view of Horseshoe Bend is really awesome and massive, but I would go next time late in the day when the tours are not going just to sit and enjoy.  It felt very rushed and was hard to get a photo without other people in it. I also do not know how people get a photo with the entire horseshoe in it… very difficult to get a good personal shot.

Ah well…
